A change in royalty calculations by the provincial government may have tipped the economic scales for three companies that have undertaken large-scale developments in and around Abbey, Saskatchewan. Profico, Husky, and Cavell are each making their mark on a major step-out of the Cretaceous Milk River Play, by drilling over 300 wells in a 12-month period. So new is this activity, that gas has only just begun to flow from a few locations, at rates of up to 300 mcf/d per well.
